UNFPA invites interested individuals and organizations to the Gender Advocacy Working Group (GAWG)

calendar_today 16 August 2011

Maldives is making remarkable progress towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) but is lagging behind in achieving the third MDG - gender equality and women's empowerment. The related indicators for MDG3 are not likely to be achieved by 2015 unless women empowerment is placed at the top of the agenda. To this end, UNFPA Maldives is convening a Gender Advocacy Working Group (GAWG) to provide strategic direction and coherence to gender advocacy initiatives. The Gender Advocacy Working Group will work with strategic partners in civil society, media, parliamentarians and religious institutions to promote gender equality and play an advisory and coordination role in all gender advocacy initiatives.
