Every year, the international organizations launch campaigns on ending gender-based violence during the time between the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November) and Human Rights Day (10 December). This time period is known as the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.”

UNFPA has had success in its 16 Days campaigns. In 2015, UNFPA launched “16 Girls, 16 Stories of Resistance,” a photo feature that won two Webby Awards. In 2016, UNFPA launched “Sixteen Voices for Change,” a photo feature that was widely promoted on social media, as well as “Reversing the Trend,” a widely shared video that garnered media interest.

In 2017 we hoped to repeat these successes with an integrated social, web and media campaign drawing attention to global horror of violence against women, and how UNFPA is working to end it.
